Connect a WordPress site
Use an Application Password — never your login password.
- In WordPress, open Users → Profile for an Editor or Administrator account (Authors can publish but cannot create categories or tags; Contributors can only write drafts).
- Under Application Passwords, type “eWriting.net” and click Add New Application Password.
- Copy the 24-character password and paste it into eWriting.net with your site URL and username.
While connecting
eWriting.net creates one private draft to prove it can write, edits it, then moves it to the WordPress trash. You can empty the trash afterwards.
If it does not connect
- “rejected the credentials” — the username or Application Password is wrong, or Application Passwords are disabled (some security plugins do this).
- “REST API is blocked” or a web page instead of data — a security or firewall plugin is blocking
/wp-json. Allow authenticated REST requests. - Your site must be reachable on the public internet over HTTPS.
