SEO titles and descriptions on WordPress
Why some SEO fields say “Limited” or “Needs helper plugin”, and how to fix it.
SEO plugins store their fields in places the standard WordPress API often cannot write. eWriting.net tests what your site allows:
- Rank Math — works through Rank Math's own editor API, but its values can only be confirmed once a post is public (the focus keyword never). Shown as Limited. Rank Math must have finished or skipped its setup wizard.
- Yoast SEO, All in One SEO — need the helper plugin.
The eWriting Connector plugin
Download it, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, upload the zip and activate it. Back in eWriting.net, click Re-check capabilities. SEO title, meta description, focus keyword and canonical URL are then written and read back for every post.
The plugin adds no public endpoints: it uses WordPress's own login and checks that the account may edit each post.
